A Glowing Success: Cognition Land and Water’s Carbon Neutral from London to Paris Charity Event!

9 September 2025

We’ve done it! Cognition Land and Water hosted our Carbon Neutral from London to Paris charity fundraising event this past weekend, from Friday 5th September – Sunday 7th September. We had a daring team of cyclists successfully and safely conquer the entire distance from London to Paris.

We also wanted to make the challenge inclusive of different fitness levels and preferences consequently, we had additional groups of walkers and runners that embarked on their desired length of the distance from London to Paris over the weekend. Most of our participants met at Coulsdon South station on Friday and diverged from there on their respective journeys.

The event was in support of The Lily Foundation, a leading UK charity dedicated to fighting mitochondrial disease. Mitochondrial disease affects the body’s ability to produce energy, leading to serious health complications. It currently has no cure, but great advancements are being made. The Lily Foundation supports families affected by mitochondrial disease, funds critical research, and works to raise awareness of this devastating condition. It is a cause very near and dear to our hearts as a member of team suffers from the condition.

We are proud to announce that our 88 amazing supporters have raised £11,595 by donating to our events’ JustGiving page. Cognition has donated an additional £6000 to The Lily Foundation, making the total raised an impressive £17,595!

We have many big thank-yous to share with everyone who made this event such a glowing success. To all the participants, this event quite genuinely would not have been possible without you agreeing to take part. We know it was a lot of hard work so thank you for pushing your limits and taking on this challenge. To all the organisers and safety team, thank you for all your hard work securing the routes for our teams and expertly coordinating all the complicated logistics. Lastly, thank you to everyone who donated to our event. Whether big or small, every contribution has made a difference. We had an amazing team behind making this whole event possible and we are grateful for every one of your contributions.

It is still not too late to support the event, and in turn, support the great work that The Lily Foundation are doing in the fight against mitochondrial disease. Thank you in advance for any amount of support you can give!

Initially, the challenge was supposed to include another element - a daring team rowing across the channel from Dover to France. Due to personal reasons, this element of our carbon neutral event has been postponed until next spring. Keep an eye on our page to see how this progresses in the future.

Please look out for future posts where we will share more photos from the event and additional details about the journeys undertaken by the various teams that took on our exciting challenge.
