At Cognition, we are committed to promoting the wellbeing of all employees and subcontractors across our sites.
Last week we supported the HSE Mental Health Awareness Week initiative. It was an important campaign within the construction industry that aimed to raise awareness of mental health issues, encourage open conversations, and promote positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. We shared the HSE’s Working Minds campaign amongst our site teams providing them with resources and tools for managing their mental wellbeing.
At Cognition, we support mental health by fostering a culture where wellbeing is openly discussed and prioritised alongside physical safety. We implement annual mental health awareness training for all employees, ensuring staff can recognise signs of stress or depression and know how to access help. We provide confidential support services such as mental health first aiders and managers. We encourage a healthy work–life balance, reducing excessive working hours, and promoting open communication across all levels of the workforce to help break down stigma.
By embedding mental health support into daily site operations and safety briefings, the industry can create a more supportive and resilient workforce. We remain committed to supporting the wellbeing of all employees and will continue to carry out regular check-ins with all site teams, providing opportunities for open discussion and conversations surrounding mental health in the workplace.
